Hemant Mahabir

Hemant Mahabir is a Partner at Sjiem Fat & Mahabir.

Hemant started his career at Sjiem Fat & Mahabir Trademark Consultants N.V. in 1999.

In 2016, Hemant became a Partner of Sjiem Fat & Mahabir Intellectual Property N.V. (Sjiem Fat & Mahabir), a firm he co-founded on November 1, 2016.

Hemant manages the Trademark Department of the firm. He is responsible for all trademark matters at the Bureau for Intellectual Property in Suriname.

Hemant has extensive experience on trademark matters including advising, registration, and renewal of trademarks. He advises clients on strategies for protection of their trademark rights.

Hemant's clients include a wide array of both local and foreign clients across multiple sectors, including, among others, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, home and health care, food and beverage and retail companies.

Hemant is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and regularly attends their annual meetings. He is also a member of the Intellectual Property Caribbean Association (IPCA).
